Embers

For the artists who play with fire.
About Embers
Embers: A Lit & Art Zine is an online literary and art magazine dedicated to publishing all kinds of art and sparks of fire. We strive to foster a vibrant community for bold writers, artists, creatives, sex workers, alternative folks, queer people, people of color, and other marginalized creators. Beyond publishing, we organize engaging readings, writing workshops, and exciting launch parties for the zine, creating a platform for diverse voices to shine.

About the Editor
Embers was founded and is run by its Editor-In-Chief (EIC), Jourden V. Sander, who previously founded and ran Feminine Inquiry, an online and print zine, as its EIC. She ran Feminine Inquiry for four years before sunsetting the publication to begin grad school in 2017 at the Vermont College of Fine Arts. She graduated with her Master of Fine Arts degree in writing in 2019 and has been working as a professional writer and editor since, though she has 12+ years of professional writing and editing experience total.
She greatly missed the zine space, so Embers was born. As a writer, Jourden has been published in dozens of magazines, journals, anthologies, and publications; as a dancer and performer, Jourden has graced many stages in Austin, Texas and has been performing for over three years. As a queer, multifaceted writer, artist, and creator herself, she strives to provide a multidimensional space for artists of all kinds to share their work and to witness the work of others.

All those who feel creativity burning within them are welcome here. Bring your art. Bring your best. Bring your fire.
